The Experience of Reliable Surgical Management for Intractable Auricular Pseudocysts

چکیده
treatment methods have been proposed, however recurrence and cosmetic problems are still noted in some cases. The aim of this article was to discuss our experience of surgical treatment of intractable auricular pseudocysts. Methods: Fourteen patients with auricular pseudocysts who were unresponsive to simple aspiration followed by intralesional steroid injections or who declined conservative treatment were reviewed in the Department of Otolaryngology, Kaohsiung Municipal Ta-Tung Hospital from December 2010 to May 2013. Deroofing surgical management under local anesthesia was performed in all 14 patients. The epidemiological profiles of the auricular pseudocysts and postoperative results including recurrence rate and complications of the lesions were reviewed. Results: All patients had acceptable cosmetic result and no recurrence except for one patient who had the complication of a perichondrial reaction. Conclusions: The deroofing surgical method by removing the anterior cartilaginous leaflet of the lesion followed by compression dressing is a reliable procedure for intractable auricular pseudocysts.

متن کاملRehabilitation of an Auricular Defect Using Surgical Stent
Reconstruction of a facial defect is a complex modality either surgically or prosthetically, depending on the site, size, etiology, severity, age, and the patient’s expectation. Loss of an auricle, in the presence of an auditory canal, affects hearing, because the auricle gathers sound and directs it into the canal. The auricle acts as a resonator to slightly amplify lower frequency sound...

Intrahepatic pseudocyst is a very rare complication of pancreatitis. Lack of experience and literature makes diagnosis and management of intrahepatic pseudocyst very difficult. Majority of published cases were managed by either percutaneous or surgical drainage. Less than 30 cases of intrahepatic pseudocysts have been reported in the literature and there is not a single report of endoscopic ult...

Surgical resection of the epileptogenic tissue is a well-established method for treating patients with intractable focal epilepsy. Determining language laterality and locality is an important part of a comprehensive epilepsy program befo...
